Founders & team

Eric Laurin — Founder & Lead Developer: B.Eng., M.A.Sc. Electrical Engineering. 25 years in telecommunications software, with deep expertise in complex systems architecture, performance optimization, and delivering reliable products at scale. Sole proprietor of wiz≡r.
Ludovik Laurin — Co-founder & Financial Strategist: Academic background in finance with a network in the banking sector. Brings domain knowledge of financial mechanisms, investment products, and savings behavior. Drives product vision around the financial needs of younger adults.

What we do — and don't do — with your money

wiz≡r reads transaction data from your bank accounts through Plaid. That's it. We display amounts, dates, merchant names, and account names you connect. We do not move money, we do not initiate payments, we do not hold custody of any funds, and we never see or store your bank login credentials (those live with Plaid; we receive a read-only token).

Because there is no money movement, wiz≡r is not classified as a Money Services Business under FINTRAC's Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act regime, and no MSB registration is required. If we ever add features that move money (e.g. account-to-account transfers, FX, payments), we will register before launching them.

Infrastructure & partners

Bank-connection partner: Plaid Inc. — SOC 2 Type II certified. Industry-standard service used by Venmo, Robinhood, Chime, and thousands of other regulated fintechs.
Domain registrar: Hostinger (Vilnius, Lithuania)
Hosting: Hostinger VPS (Linux), origin server protected behind Cloudflare
CDN, DDoS protection, WAF: Cloudflare
Encryption at rest: AES-256-GCM for sensitive fields
Encryption in transit: TLS 1.2 / 1.3 (HTTP automatically redirected to HTTPS, with HSTS)
Authentication: JWT (HMAC-SHA256), BCrypt-hashed passwords (cost factor 12), optional TOTP MFA
Backups: Daily automated encrypted backups; offsite copies in Backblaze B2; disaster-recovery procedure tested

Tech stack

Cross-platform code: Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) — same business logic powers iOS, Android, and the web app.
iOS: SwiftUI, KMP shared module via SKIE.
Android: Jetpack Compose.
Web: Kotlin/JS, served as a static SPA with crawler-readable static landing pages for AI grounding.
Server: Ktor (JVM), SQLDelight, deployed to a hardened VPS.
